MIPIM Ladies and RE:WOMEN London gathering

It was great to see so many of you at our MIPIM Ladies event with RE:WOMEN – we had an amazing time and we hope you all did too!

As always we are overwhelmed by the support and positivity of our MIPIM Ladies members, and the attendance at our London gathering was excellent – we were pretty much bursting at the seams! We’d like to thank RE:WOMEN for joining us and making the event extra special.

It’s a joy to see such enthusiasm from our industry, and the willingness to share and learn new experiences. We’d like to say very big thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday and we hope you found it beneficial in making new connections in the London property and construction scene.

We would also like to thank our sponsors – RE:WOMEN, Cambridge Finance, David Miller Architects, Airey Miller, Urben, Silverlife, Turner & Townsend, Wilson & Partners, Hamlins – whose support and generosity allows us to stage these fabulous events..

And remember, MIPIM Ladies is a network for support, guidance and collaboration, so please do keep in touch via our social media channels between events.

See you all again next time!

MIPIM Ladies and Westminster Business Council Celebration

On the eve of International Women’s Day, MIPIM Ladies teamed up with Westminster Business Council’s Women of Westminster in a celebration of women in business at the Lord Mayor of Westminster’s Parlour in the heart of London.

The evening was opened by Elizabeth Crowther-Hunt, CEO of Westminster Business Council, Elizabeth Crowther Hunt. Elizabeth spoke about the alliance between our two groups and how it was a privilege to witness so much support for equality and diversity in gender empowerment in the Capital. Elizabeth then introduced the Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Lindsey Hall, who addressed the 90-strong female crowd with a story of her own career journey and the challenges she has faced, and the many successes and achievements she has earned.

The Lord Mayor also commented that while International Women’s Day has been marked since 1911, it is only now that women are being recognised in all spheres in every profession. The Lord Mayor noted that while there is still a long way to go (women are still typically paid 23% less than men globally), there are many positives to outweigh the negatives, and as women we should support each other, expressing praise and generosity. She also spoke of the importance of mentoring and coaching younger generations of women.

Following the Lord Mayor was Christine Baldwin, Head of Property Portfolio London for Landsec. Christine gave a heartfelt speech on her own career, starting as a young professional and a working mother, though to her achievements in the property and development sector.

Christine spoke of the struggles she has faced, and how she used this to make her stronger. A MIPIM veteran herself, Christine shared some rather interesting stories about winning new business.

To close the presentations, Fiona Clark, Practice Director at David Miller Architects and a co-founder of MIPIM Ladies, echoed the comments of Lindsey and Christine by saying how important it is to be yourself and to take the opportunities that come your way.

It really was a marvellous evening of celebration of women in all industries, and the perfect platform for engagement and sharing.

Now on to MIPIM: see you all in Cannes!

Henman to headline MIPIM Tennis Classic 2019

Cannes Tennis Club, March 13th, 9am to 12.30pm

The MIPIM Tennis Classic is back this year – bigger and better than ever before – with Wimbledon legend Tim Henman headlining the tournament.

The former British No.1 will be on hand throughout the charity doubles tournament on the morning of Wednesday 13th March.

The organisers are determined to smash 2018’s record fundraising total of over £36,000, raising much-needed funds for four charities: The Tim Henman Foundation, Bright Ideas for Tennis, LandAid, and the Cannes Community Fund.

There will be a chance to win an exclusive one-on-one coaching session with Tim before the tournament. Three brave competitors will also be able to play against Tim in three quick tie-break matches at the end of the event.

Joining Tim as another new addition is television presenter Dan Lobb. The former host of Daybreak and GMTV will be compere on the day. All competitors will be able to enjoy an added professional touch, with tennis giants Head providing the balls and rackets for every player.

With so many improvements to an already fantastic competition, it promises to be an unmissable event for anyone attending MIPIM. Sign up today – as a player or as a spectator – and help raise money for four great causes.
